Electronic Document and Records Management (EDRM) enables organisations to manage their documents and records throughout their lifecycle, from creation to destruction.
In every business, whether private or public, there is a requirement to work within the boundaries of regulation, procedures or industry standards. This information is found in many forms ranging from electronic documents and emails to more contemporary digital assets like blogs and video. To ensure compliance, minimise risk and maximise efficiency, this information must be stored, managed and be readily accessible.
The solution
Diagonal’s Wisdom EDRMS has been designed and architected as a highly scalable hybrid solution for enterprise-class documents and records management. Wisdom is written entirely in Microsoft .NET using open standards and complies with e-GIF (e-Government Interoperability Framework) and e-GMS (e-Government Metadata Standard) recommendations whilst also having the ability to support the LGCS (Local Government Classification Scheme), LGCL (Local Government Category List) and IPSV (Integrated Public Sector Vocabulary) for configuration of fileplan and metadata standards.
The latest version of Wisdom has been designed to be seamlessly embedded into the Microsoft platform so that it appears to be transparent to the end user. Wisdom’s integration with everyday end user applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint provides further value through reduced training costs.
Wisdom EDRMS has an open Application Program Interface (API) upon which has been developed an extensive Software Development Kit (SDK). This allows over 30 core methods within the EDRMS to be exposed to other applications. Diagonal have developed methods to enable integration with line of business applications, all of which have been brought together in our Generic Wisdom Integration Services (GWIS) module.
To compliment Wisdom EDRMS, basic workflow capabilities relating to document routing and approvals are available in Wisdom via the use of Windows Workflow Foundation (WF) actions. These are provided as a core component of the Wisdom EDRMS application. .
